My Creative Learning Corner

My Inspiration Wall

Technically, this is only part of it, but you can get the idea. I bought black $1 picture frames, spray painted them red, blue, and green. I used a overhead projector marker to write my favorite quotes on the glass, and put clouds and hand print paper inside the picture frames. I used command strips to hold them to the wall.

First Day Ice Breaker
Read a few "All About Me" literature books and discuss differences. Give each student a poster and a pack of crayons. Allow them to draw a face and take a picture of each child. Later crop and paste each picture together. It creates a great give for parents.

QR Scan Dice Game

This is one of the most popular workstations in my classroom. Here are the step by step directions to make a dice and create some codes for any subject.

What Is Needed: I-Pad
QR Scan App
1 cube size tissue box
Hot Glue and Gun or 3 Sided Laminated Pouches
Paper, Printer, and Ink

1. Start by painting your Kleenex box and let it dry. If you do not want it painted, skip this step. I found some cute blue boxes at Walmart for cheap and did not paint them. Before you do this make sure you save the open part of the box, take the tissues out, and tape the top back on the box before you paint.
2.  Add a laminated pouch or you can hot glue a clear plastic rectangle to each side of the box. I like hot glue better. It is not as messy and shows up clear.

3. Once it is dry and all sides have pouches. You can add your QR codes.

4. Each group of 4 to 5 students will have a die. Each group will roll their die, and each student will have a different QR scan with different addition problems to answer. You can turn this game into a race and time the class. Each one of my QR scans has 10 addition problems to answer. Each group can have up to six times rolling the die which means each student will have 60 problems. I usually let the groups roll the die two to three times.

Here is a step by step picture of me making my die.

Here is an example of what my QR codes look like. You can find them at my website on TPT
